Hi Amy,

Isn't ignorance bliss!

The only way I have been able to overcome (slightly) this ignorance, is that I plow snow in the winter for a living, a lot of it, and have for over thirty years. I have learned to force myself to do repairs or preventive maintenance to my equipment at the first signs of trouble. Because you know when the equipment will fail, in the middle of a blizzard when fifty families are depending on me.
The only way you can learn this discipline is to have been lying under a broken down truck on the side of the road in 25 degree weather with below freezing salt laden slush dripping in your ears and running down your neck while you try to temporaryly fix something with numb fingers. Something that would have been a relitivly pleasent job in nice conditions.

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE!!!

Never thought of it that way... I guess meditation can come in many forms if it allows your mind to relax and the thoughts of your day escape you for a while. I tried the whole traditional style of meditation, and I too could never seem to release all the thoughts and drift into a calm bliss. Maybe I was never patient enough, or maybe it just wasn't the right medium for me.

BTW.. The playlists depends on what I need it for. Fast, upbeat for my workouts, and mellow, older country for just relaxing in the evening.

Another well written note Amy. I am like you, I enjoy the activities that most dread, including cutting the grass, sweeping the street, and, yes, raking the yard. It is a sneaky way to actually get in a work out (plus it releases stress for me). Otherways to get in a bit more activity - park far away from the entrance of the mall, supermarket, etc., walk the shopping cart to the collection location on the opposite side of the parking lot, or walk up and down the stairs while on the phone. Any little bit helps.

It is true, we all seem to get caught up so quickly in the hussle of our day, which is why I always set my alarm for early in the morning. This way I can get up take a bike ride, walk the neighborhood, work out in the basement, or whatever physical activity I can get in before I start my day. This way, I know my excercise is done, I don't have to worry about it getting brushed aside for the other tasks that come up throughout the day.

Keep the posts coming! We can all be on the path for better health!

Thank you so much for sharing this news! Corn syrup is so evil and so abundantly found in the shelves of the grocery store these days. It is even scarier that they are masking the name and many people will be none the wiser. High fructose corn syrup is the work of the devil and needs to be completely eliminated from all foods. It is cheap. It is unsafe. And we need to band together to tell producers that we will not tolerate it in our food any longer. It is only time until Congress finally does ban it, but how much destruction will it cause? We too have been banning it in our diet for about a year and we hope to get the word out about the dangers. Thank you so much for addressing this issue!

What a creative way of putting it, and unfortunately it is true - both in the parents addressing the symptom and people treating the symptom of their true ailment.

I could not agree with your point more about avoiding this toxic chemical. We have been personally avoiding all High Fructose Corn Syrup in our house and have been for at least the past year or more, and I tell you I feel better! It is a down right shame that the US FDA permits HFCS into our food supply, and in comparison to other countries that ban HFCS we are far worse off health wise.

The scary part about your blog comments is that they push this into our schools. Parents be ware! You need to become about of the decision of what is allowed in the schools.

Thanks again for the note, and keep up the good work.
